I went shopping. The checkout girl dropped the plastic box filled with grape tomatoes. Probably 50-60 tomatoes rolled and bounced all over the floor. Not a problem, I said. It happens to everyone (though it has never happened to me before.) So what happens when I'm bringing in the groceries? Yep! Geesh!

Then I'm opening my mail. Oh! The DMV! My license has arrived! I wonder how bad my photo will be seeing how I'll have to live with it for the next 12 years. Ah, there's the blonde hair, and I look maybe 10 years younger and about half my weight...not a bad photo really. Too bad it's not of ME! Susan Ginn, I have your DMV photo.

The good news is that I got my check from the Canadian government for a refund on the GST. At least something went right.

weird day for me too

I hada similarly weird day. First, I forgot to put on my deodorant...eeek! I worked for 12 hours, luckily not very hard, and I never had to put my arms up over anyone's head. I only had one baby to take care of, and there were no parents to offend, and no surgeons to assist! The only mildly hairy moment was when I had to put pressure on one of the attendings to sign my passport application, and photo...and I was quite close. But he obliged in the end, I kept my arms down, and a huge sigh of relief went up from me when I left for the day. EEww, sweaty.
The earthquake was quite rolly as you said, and it felt worse on the third floor of the hospital, 'cos of the rollers under the building no doubt. But, nothing fell over, no I.V.poles went walkies, as they did in the last big one we had a few years ago.
How was the gem show by the way? Sorry I couldn't come along, but I have to work all weekend, and I couldn't face the Friday traffic from Santa Monica. Weenie!

I think when the buildings are on rollers it makes the quake last a lot longer. Glad to hear it wasn't too bad! It's always a bad day when you see an oscillator rolling across the room with a premie hanging on for dear life.

I'm surprised you didn't sneak off to the lounge and do a quick wash up a couple of times during the day. Hee hee!

We didn't go to the gem show. There's another one in two weeks in Pasadena, so maybe we will go there.

I was at Sam's today. I held a 1 gig compact flash card in my hand for $74 and I wondered if you still needed it. Would you like a really early Xmas gift or not....

We definitely felt the quake, being in the basement of the with-new-state-of-the-art-rollers building. Considering that the air conditioning and the plumbing *don't* work, it was nice to feel that the rollers did work.

If you go today or tomorrow, Costco has coupons to get a 1G flash drive for $60, and CF, SD and xD cards at a great discount. But it's only good through tomorrow and if you have the coupon (which they might have in the stores, not sure). I got a flash drive.

I am *so* bad. I just got my 3.2MP camera 9 months ago, and although I like it, I'm already salivating for a different one. So I suspect that within a couple of months I'll have a new camera and [livejournal.com profile] catalenamara will have mine.

I'd go get one for Chris if she gave me the go ahead. I think she's working this weekend.

I know what you mean about the camera. I want one of those Canon Rebels with all the bells and whistles so I can do even better pictures. *g* My problem is that I tend not to replace something until it's broke (comes from having a Scottish last name, I think.) I've also been wanting a PDA with wifi, or maybe one of those side/kick blackberry things but :::eyes bank account::: maybe I should wait for a while.

I want a Nikon Coolpix 5900. It does lotsa kewl stuff *g*, has a bigger LCD screen than my current one, and is 5MP. No discounts locally, but I found a reputable online seller who's selling it for $60 less and will ship to a PO Box (miracle!) for only $10.

Sounds like luv. You know, if you wait long enough, this camera will be obsolete and you'll have decide on another one. :::tick, tock, tick, tock:::

Mmm...probably not (notice I'm hedging my bets). I should have waited when I bought the first one and not bought a 3.2 MP, but there were certain things I didn't understand about why it was better to buy higher MP cameras that I know now - like cropping, digital zooming, noise, etc. And the Nikon automatically corrects a couple of the major annoyances I had with digital pix, so I'll be a happy camper "when".....

For a minute there, I thought you were going to say that the checker wanted to stuff the tomatoes back in your bag! One of the best drops I've done was a six-pack of bottled root beer. I ended up with one unbroken/un-boomed bottle out of the six. Someone else's DL photo - how bizarre! I wonder how often that happens.

My pic looks like I'm dead and buried. Sigh. I've only ever had one good-looking DL photo, and the current one ain't it!

About 3 or 4 employees appeared and quickly wrangled the errant fruits. One guy did ask if he was supposed to put them back in the box for me. Eh, no!

Re the root beer, that must have been spectacular in a horrible way! Was that at home or in a store?

I've not heard of it until now. I bet there's a lot more than just me.

I was walking from my car through the garage to the walkway leading to my apt. I dropped the bag on the walkway, but scooted it around the corner into the garage so it didn't do its sticky thing all over the walkway. Ewwww!
