This is an article the National Geographic magazine published a year ago. It's about a hurricane striking New Orleans that it could have been written 2 months from now. Very scary, very accurate. I could go on about the frustration and anger I feel, but I think you all know it already because you feel it, too.

And Rehnquist died. Now Bush will be able to replace two Supreme Court judges.

It just keeps getting better and better....

Gods, yeah that is scary.

Not surprising, though. Scientists and Environmentalists are constantly warning of this type of thing, but if their warnings in any way threaten to interfere with profit they're labelled crackpots and alarmists.

I have to hope that if any good comes out of this tragedy, it's an awakening to the public as a whole of the importance of preserving wetlands and working on solutions to help curb the damage caused by Global Warming, but the cynical side of myself just can't help but think that in a few months we'll be right back to square one.

I'm sure Bush and his buds will either ignore the real problems or somehow blame it on their opponents. Spin, spin, spin. He's incapable of admiting to global warming, but perhaps the individual states from the governors down to the people will start making the right changes. California takes that route but has been getting punished, ridiculed and thwarted by the feds since Bush has been in office. I only hope that Bush will be embarrassed into helping New Orleans (poor and democratic) because, otherwise I doubt he would. There's nothing in it for him. He cares not 'for the people'; the country, the world is just there for him to take advantage of.
