Without a Trace or WtF?

tenayaFirst off, Martin looked yummie, all stressed out about coming back to work but being brave. Danny stayed just as off-balance and anxious during the show. Luckily, Sam apparently has not been motherhenning Martin while he's recovering; in fact, from Martin's reaction, it seemed that she wasn't aware of how his recuperation had been going. Viv is wonderful as always. Jack? He's now coming across as a villian, sparing no chance to fuck with his team. Let's see, keep Viv from doing her job, making Martin fear he's being replaced and rough up Danny for trying to do his job. And the coming attractions, oh joy! I wonder whose idea it was to hire a hot new babe to be on the team, and hey, let's have her and Sam go undercover as an item! Why, oh why do they mess with show like this?!
Now, let me tell you what my bunnymuse told me about the subtext. Jack sees how affected Danny is by Martin's near miss and knows those two are an item, and he's jealous. He feels Danny is poaching from his little stable of hot agents that he can sexually prey on. He's been keeping Martin off balanced, waiting for the right moment to move in on him when he's vulnerable. Martin's affair with Sam irritated him when he first found out, but then he reactivated the hidden camera he'd installed in her bedroom. At first, he'd enjoyed the tapes he'd made of bondage games he's made Sam participate in, but then he could see she was only pretending to like being tied up. He now had a fairly decent sized collection of Martin and Sam getting it on, but it was fairly whitebread type sex. It did add to his fantasy life as he imagined various scenarios of what he'd like to do to Martin; the man had a protected childhood and was obviously ripe to be introduced to more adventurous activities. The fact that he wasn't recovered yet would only make it that much more fun. Danny would have to be driven off as it wouldn't do to give Martin someone to go to for help when Jack made his move. Yes, first he needed to make Martin nervous about his position then invite him over for a private conselling. Maybe he could even use threats to Danny's career to make Martin more pliable.
