I liked the Zeva scenes with Gibbs. Her emotions have been difficult for her the past couple of episodes so it was good to see her open up. Even after a year, her pain at shooting Ari
can overwhelm her. I like Zeva a lot.
Gibbs quitting? Yeah, well he needs some time off to heal up. I suspect that it'll take a few eps to get him back. I think the PTB have shown enough respect for continuity to not have him back in the season opener...I hope. People come back from plainly fatal events on shows, so the fact that he's quiting doesn't faze me too much.
Why show a cruise liner blowing up? Wasn't the Cape Fear a freighter? Very sloppy that they can't get their special effects right.
Madam Director can't act at all. Ye gads! How embarrassing. That bit where she tells Ducky about Gibbs dead wife and daughter was appalling but the worst was when she swaggered off saying something about Gibbs liking redheads, in otherwords, the dead wife is so yesterday since Gibbs was getting his rocks off with me. I went from being annoyed with her to REALLY disliking her. She can leave anytime now. The sooner the better
Speaking of annoying, let's hear it for Without a Trace:
Jack is not a sympathetic character in anyway. I liked him a lot in the first season, and now I dread any scene he's in. The grunting, the voice things he does has become like fingernails on a chauke board. The new girlfriend, who is 45 and has never had children, announces she's pregnant and his response is he has two kids and pretty much insinuates he doesn't want another. I think the selfish pig just wanted her to abort the baby. Did I mention he's a pig? This guy has no ethics and it's getting harder to believe that he can be trusted to be in law enforcement.
The other characters are barely present and I was surprised when Martin was actually in a scene. I thought maybe he'd been cut loose to do some work elsewhere. I'm so disgusted with this show.
Boston Legal:
Marlene is over the top, fairly two dimensional. I don't mind if she's on the show for an arc but I don't think she can be sustained as a regular. Her scenes with Denise (with the cartoon music) and the kinky sex with Alan are over the top, and that's acceptable--for awhile-- on this show. I mean, Alan in heat! LOL!
The restaurant scene between Denny and Alan cracked me. The dialogue was a 'will you marry me' exchange with a wicked twist of 'will you kill me.' I love this show.
The Denise storyline took a poignant twist. She's been amusing but didn't have much depth. I was surprised I felt so bad for her and was glad that the Michael J Fox character showed up. It seemed that Denise did have a reasonable expectation of making partner, just as Brad recently did, and I didn't understand why the partners told her she wasn't being considered. It makes sense that Marlene was recruited with the promise of becoming a partner, but still, something seems off and unfair. And since Alan is an associate with no expectations of being a partner and has power, respect and wealth just the same, it's not like not being a partner is a professional death sentence. I hope Denise will be back. I think she fit in well.
And Shirley can play hard ball when she wants, can't she! Woo doggy! Don't get on her bad side! And I loved the kiss between her and Denny. I especially loved that it was such an
Lost, not a season ender but:
I'd been happier with an episode from the dogs point of view.
I do like Eco. I like the mystical element he has and that Locke used to have. Locke has walked off, so maybe he'll regain his cool. Being around Jack has lowered him quite a bit.
Jack's a fucking idiot. Michael makes my hackles rise (visceral dislike is not a good thing in a tv show.)
Yep, I think Sayeed, Sun, Jin, and Eco are the only characters I like anymore. And Sawyer half the time. I'm not quite sure why I quit liking Hurley. Maybe because I really disliked seening Libby in the nuthouse with Hurley and that that kinda led one to toy with the idea that this whole thing is a hallucination. You know what? I don't want to watch a show that plays with the viewer like that. It's a gimick that stands in for a lack of solid plot and writing. I think Hurley was collateral damage to the writer's little bit of fun.
Invasion:
Invasion not renewed. Just as well. "She's bleeding!" "So do something!" And then the doctor wrings out a wet washcloth to dab the forehead of the hemorrhaging woman. Argh!
I've been fastforwarding through so many eps lately that I'll have to have a friend tell me just how the sherrif became a good guy. Whatever.
And now I'm going to have a piece of pizza and watch the latest Dr. Who.

Date: 2006-05-20 04:01 pm (UTC)Watched the season ender of NCIS only because I was taping it for my mom. Found it rather lame. I mean, everyone knows Mark Harmon is coming back next season, so, hello? Where's the suspense?
It's like Camelot, the ender for SG-1. "Who survives" and it's supposed to make us think someone isn't coming back? DUH. We know the main cast is returning, so where's the suspense there?
Nothing will ever beat the cliffhanger that started it all: Who Shot JR?

Date: 2006-05-20 09:14 pm (UTC)James has had the tummy for all of BL. He actually has lost a little weight this season, I think.
Last year on NCIS, they did kill someone off, so with the habit of always trying to do one up from the last time, I was wondering a smidgon. I mean, probably not but if they can kill Kate.... The main thing about that ep was that we found out about Gibb's past. For years we've seen rare flashbacks to Gibbs with an 8 year old girl but never knew what the story was. Now we know. I think the terrorist thing was just to what was needed to make the flashbacks work.
For SG1, I've had a good few months picturing different ways of how Sam didn't make it. Until the opener shows, I can be happy.
