I know I'm spamming my lj about this but hey, I spent $700 for this so I want to show it off (even if you all go, "she should have cut it down..."

Wow! I think the tree looks great, and still like a real tree, not like a nubbin pretending to be a tree, like they have at the mall, when you're looking for some shade to park the car under, and there are these 'nubbins' everywhere that have been 'trimmed' to within an inch of their lives...just in time for summer! I'm glad you kept the tree; after all, every bit of privacy helps, and I think the tree does a good job of that. He did a great job that guy, you should keep him!
(i'm at work today, in isolation, and my maniac assignment just went to sleep, so I'm enjoying the peace!)Tomorrow, however, I'm precepting again, and they've put me in the hell hole, where the kids cry all day, and the parents never leave ,and get on my nerves! Tee, hee!

We've had this tree trimmed before and it was that way even though we told them we didn't want it hacked to bits. You can see in that one photo where the the branches grew in like suckers off the nubbins that were left. It's left the tree deformed but this guy did manage to preserve some grace and shade. I'm glad we tried it this way. Hopefully, it'll stay with us for a while.

At least you're having a nice quiet day. I must I do enjoy "being needed elsewhere" when the parents come in. You poor nurses have to stay put. Have fun today!

I think it looks good! And definately better than some alternatives. I've seen people just whack off entire sides off trees and all sorts of oddities, to the point that it doesn't even look like a tree anymore.

Thank you. :) This tree has been whacked before until it looked like a arm and hand, with the fingers all cut off at the first knuckles. I've felt guilty about that for years, even though I specifically told them not to do that. What're you going to do though when you're face to face with men and their power tools?

I think something goes horribly wrong between a man's ears and his brain. It's like some sort of testosterone driven part of his mind takes over and says "me man. me tools. me cut down!"

We used to call my Dad The Mad Mower. Mom would plant and then he'd come through and just run the power mower over everything, roses and all. It is such a guy thing.

They did a good job. You have a gorgeous yard, too. :-)

Ah, thank you. The angle of that photo hides a lot of weeds and wildness. That yellow rose bush had over 100 blooms on it when that photo was taken. Bloom all at once and get it done with, is its motto.

Much better! Glad this work was done so well.

Who did you use? I have a magnolia that needs trimming.

He's a local guy. If he doesn't travel out your way, maybe he can reccommend some other Certified Arborist. He was having a website put up and he had some great before and after photos, one of which was a big ol' honkin' Magnolia.

He is Bob's Tree Service. 909-599-7128. Cell: 909-524-8000.

Good luck.

Quite a nice job, and I like the flowers along your drive, too - very homey.

Thank you. :) It's roses and geraniums over on that side of the drive, along with that big bush of a pomegranet which has lots of blooms right now, too. The middle is this and that, lots of weeds and bermuda grass and a scattering of Sweet Peas. Oh, and california poppies at the moment. If you can green screen out the weeds, there is a lot of blooming plants at the moment. Very festive.

Sue, that's lovely! He did a very good job, thank goodness. I can park my car under it now. Oh, wait. I'm taking the train down. Never mind ::grin::

You could park your car under the dappled shade of the not-leaning-as-much tree, if you wanted the drive. You're coming into the Brea station right? 2pm?
