I was reading the paper during my break last night. There was a article about a guy who was in prison for having child porn on his computer and his release was tied into having a penile plethsmograph (sp!). He objected, appealed, and the court agreed to him. Long story short, the appeal used the following book to help it's case:

A Mind of Its Own : A Cultural History of the Penis by David M. Friedman

I don't know why, but that just makes me laugh like a drain!

Apparently, it's not because the test itself is to distasteful, it's because its veracity hasn't been confirmed in the US courts.

I hope they're keeping an eye on this guy.

He's complaint was that this test was curtailing his freedom and the judges agreed and he gets to be released. He felt this test should only be used on men that had molested kids, not just owned photos. You read stuff like this and think you can't possibly be understanding it correctly because, if he is getting hard looking at child porn, WHY should he be released? Why shouldn't his freedom be curtailed? I don't get it.

The paper mentioned what that wikipedia said, "The motivation for its development was to prevent draft dodgers from claiming that they were homosexual in order to avoid military service." But the paper said that the Czechs were using this to find and cure homosexuals. That sounds pretty nasty.
