Election humor

The phone has been ringing, ringing, ringing with election advice from a variety of celebrities. The best was the last one, though.

"Hello. I am Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and I am calling to remind you." And that was it. As I waited with anticipation for what Uncle Arnie was going to remind me about, I slowly began to wonder if Alzheimers might be settling in and he can't remember what he was going to remind me of. I think he was going to say in the spirit of his new love of bipartisanship (spin, spin, spin) he was going to urge me to vote for all the democrates, and Yes on 84, 86, 87 and NO on 85 and 90. I'm kinda bonded out on many of the other measures, but not all. I'm fortifying myself at the moment to go out into the heat to go vote. It's 95 out there right now. :::gumble, gumble:::

So, remember what Uncle Arnie said....

Over in my journal, netninny linked to an article about how some organizations are actually paying for those robocalls to voters to annoy them on purpose so that they won't vote for that person. I don't know if it's true or not, though.

Ah, that's interesting. I didn't hang up immediately as I used the pause to chatter to him, giving him advice and chastize him. I think I was on long enough that if there was more, I would have heard it. I think it was probably a glitch. But that article...calling at 5am? That's wrong. Why can't these people be punished for these shinnanigans?

One of my phone calls came at 8:30 a.m.--woke me up! I was not at all pleased, because I jumped out of bed and ran downstairs to listen to the answering machine (when it picked up) in case it was some big, horrible emergency or something. Nobody calls her at 8:30 a.m. They all know better. *g* Then to discover that it was just a stupid recorded political ad... UGH!
