The trip so far:

Uneventful plane and auto trip--always the best kind.

Yesterday: Went to Jack's Cabin. Found it fenced in as they were going to shoot Men in Trees there later that day. Got a few photos from across the pond. Duck abound.

Went across the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge. Not as scary as Capliano, but still a little iffy as it was wet and slippery. Had a lovely walk through the forest, taking photos to my heart's content...until the LCD on the camera went dead. I'm hoping it will dry out given time.

Went to Costco to buy those lovely Burnt Almond Dark Chocolate bars that we can't get at home. Heh heh heh.

Went to Safeways and bought some microwave popcorn as my hotel room as a microwave.

Turned on TV and caught the last 2 minutes of a SG ep, Thread. Just in time to see...Jack's Cabin! Full circle! *g*

It started to rain yesterday and hasn't stopped. Ah, glorious Winter! How I've missed you!

Am at the host hotel right now using their free computer and waiting until I can register for the con (my roomies are off doing business type stuff. I'm hoping to be adopted by someone with a room. *g*

Been icky

The night before I went to Vegas/Laughlin, I spent most of the night taking care of a 33 year old with a rather frighteningly wicked case of pneumonia. The next day I started coughing up crap and have been now for over a week. BTW, the patient coded and went on a ventilator and only just came off. Again, why is it that I have to be exposed to contagious stuff but when I catch it, it's not considered an industrial illness? I went ahead and slogged into work because I have lots of cool trips planned for my PTO, and when not at work, I've been sleeping.

Except for now. I'm procrastinating getting ready to go see Stars on Ice. I meant to go to the local fan meeting but I took a nap instead. Besides, moonchildetoo does not need me coughing on her before she goes to have medical stuff done.

Vegas/Laughlin was cold and windy and aside from me being sick, fun. We took a side trip to Hoover dam, which is quite impressive. I've seen programs about how it was built, but it still is WOW when you see it. And doncha know they are building a freeway over the gorge! There are these amazing pillars that just stretch up to the heavens waiting for a road to be laid on top of them. We're going to go back to Vegas in April to see Craig Ferguson and we plan on saving a day to go back to the dam and take the tour.

Okay, gotta go see skating. At least MK won't be there. *g*

Six weeks ago we received a free pass to both of Disneyland's parks that was good until Nov. 15. Read more... )

In other news, Brindle keeps coming in with scratches on his face. I think he's sneaking over to eat the neighbor's cat food and getting thumped for it. Then he feels icky because he's allergic to the food and he comes to stay inside for a 4-5 days until he feels better. And to quote the shampoo bottle, "repeat."

Yesterday, I went into the North Forty to clean out another branch that that darn eucalyptus shed. At least I could do this one myself though I left the main branch up there as it was too heavy to carry or drag down to the street.
