I've worked at the same job for 30 years. In that time, I've called off work twice to play hookey. :::waves at Scribe:::: The last time I've called off was last July when the refrigerator died.

Here's my quandary:
http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci07prog_peek.shtml

You'll notice that Torchwood with John Barrowman is on Thursday. Friday is SG1 with SCAT and David Hewlett. Saturday is Heroes.

I've bought a membership and had intended to drive down Friday after getting off work in the AM. I work Tuesday/Wed/Thursday that week. If I want to see JB, I should really call in sick on Wed and Thursday. Is it worth it for an hour? I was under the impression that Scifi or was it MGM was going to try to have a lot of the cast down there for SGA and possibly SG1. Only two actors seems very thin pickings. I wouldn't cross the street to see AT but I adore DH. And I would love to see the Heroes panel. I have the sick time. And at this job, you have to ask for time off about six weeks in advance. And I know for a fact that most everyone else calls in for fun days all the time.

You must see both David Hewlett and John Barrowman!!

After all you put up with at work and how responsible you are, it's not big deal.

I think that's what I'm trying to convince myself of. Everyone else does it, why shouldn't I? But for an hour for JB and DH's hour will be shared with AT and Mallousy.

It really isn't a big deal, is it?

Nah, it's not a big deal.

I know about the idiot boy and AT, but DH is well worth it, even if he praises AT which I don't know why he does.

Besides, someone should mention to him that JB is there, and someone should introduce him to the Torchwood/Dr. Who people, because right now if someone could get David Tennant, John Barrowman and David Hewlett together it would be like the event of the millennia.

Go to the whole thing, and don't feel remorse. I'm not the kind of person who likes to skip work either, but you don't do that every day and even if you do so once, I can tell there will be way more people that abuse it, which it's not what you're doing now.

And well, on a very selfish note, I will be SO looking forward to your report.

Yeah...con report and photos. :)

DH with DT and JB! That would be awesome. Oooh! Crossover! Have you read any yet?

And you've almost convinced me. The thing is, I'll regret it if I don't go, won't I?

Of course you'll regret it. :)) Yay for going.

I don't read Doctor Who or Torchwood fics. Actually, I have a problem with Torchwood, because I didn't like it that much. Some episodes yes, but overall... I dunno.

In any case, I'm looking forward to season 2, because now Jack is different and I want to see Martha in there. We'll see.

Same here. I had such high hopes for Torchwood and was very disappointed that Jack had such a minor role and his attitude was so different. I've friended a few DW Torchwood groups and skimmed a few stories. I just don't feel the emotional attachment to the characters I need that makes me want to read more about them.

I really like Martha, but if she ends up in bed with Owen I'll scream.

Good point. By the time I'll have to call it, it should be a know thing I hope. One day doesn't sound as bad as two.

I guess I'm just not cut out to be a wicked woman. *g*

I've saved all my mental health days to go to cons. This would be more of a fangirly day. I think I'm seeking permission to be bad. *g*

He's a real treat. If I can only have one SGA cast member, I'm glad it's him. I've nearly convinced myself to go. I need to change my hotel reservation to start a day earlier.
