We decided against the boat cruise as time was short but it looked very nice:




And on our first day here we spotted an elk. Later, four mule deer.




Life is good at the Banff Springs Hotel. Our blood sugar and caffeine levels soared as we watched the clouds caress the snow capped peaks:

I'm sorry we missed that now. There's another cruise over near Jasper so I'll try for that. Did you get to Lake Louise and Jasper?

We had horrible weather in Banff, and it was August. But we could do the gondola and the lake tour.

Yes, we also went to Jasper, and the Lake Maligne and Spirit Island cruise is a must do! It's amazing.

Another favourite place of ours was Lake Moraine, I believe we went there from Jasper as well.

We went to Lake Louise, but perhaps it's the place I liked the least. It was packed with people and the other places were so quiet...

Banff is gorgeous, but Jasper is also very pretty. The town has a bit of a v shape and you can see the rail tracks. We found it just gorgeous.

I had to do a little arm twisting last night but we're going on the Maligne cruise today (I hope.) She just didn't want to spend the money, I think.

We'll catch Moraine Lake in a few days. :)

All these towns have trams; you went on the Banff one, but did you go on the others too? Would you recommend any of them in particular? We did the Banff one yesterday and it was fantastic. Beautiful views and fresh snow on the ground.

No, we only did the Banff one. Some of the others looked interesting, but we didn't have enought time.

At Lake Moraine, save some time, and maybe walk a bit around the lake (the path is quite good), the views are breathtaking.
