I'm back!

We're home. Had a very relaxing time. It is so beautiful up there. I will fiddle with the photos later and put them on photobucket. We took up Mom's rollator and she did quite well with it. As long as she can sit down every so often, she's good. She was much more active with it.

The cats missed us! We knew Brindle would, but it was nice to see the new ones did, too. Buddy was unsure and needed much petting. He woke me up at some point to touch my face, request some pets, then fell asleep holding my arm and his head pillowed on my hand. Abby watched intently while Buddy got his welcome home pets, then lay down on the bed to get some herself. She lost courage though, and jumped down to the food bowls where she is accustomed to receiving her pets. And then she was quite affectionate (in her own way.)

We stopped on the way out of Yosemite Valley to watch some climbers on El Capitan. I thought, "I'll have to look up what route they were one when I got home." Well, I tried! It's amazing how many there are! And I found this very interesting (if sometimes too techincal) account of a climb to the top. Be sure to look at the photos, too. Un-be-livable!

Gotta go get the bird out of the oven now! I hope my 'merican friends had a great Thanksgiving.

Just a quick up date. It's hot, hot, hot outside--105. And I'll be driving off to a long weekend in Las Vegas where it is 106. Joy. But I will have friends and laughter and alcohol and fannish conversations. Indoors. It will all be indoors unless there's a pool involved. Better yet!

Saw Buddy last night. He was MIA for two days after we made the break though. We were feeling pretty tense about him missing, but he strolled back into the house complaining all the way.

Made a little break through with Emma last night. I hung upside down off the bed and using a flashlight and a mirror, was able to entice her to play a little bit with that cat toy on a stick. She looked yearning for a while and finally couldn't resist and batted it a few times. Then she looked a bit alarmed, turned around and wouldn't participate anymore. Then this morning when I opened the door to say hi, she was on the bed and gave me a belligerent look like 'you gonna make me leave?' That's great! She's feeling like she has rights, so that's a good step forward. But I'm leaving 5 days. I've encouraged Mom to keep interacting with her. Finger's crossed!

Hey, I've filled up my 16g iPod Touch. I guess that means I can move up to a new level of toys. *g* I was thinking about an Archos 5 or 7 or something. Anyone have any opinions about that? I thought I'd try something that isn't all proprietary.

Anyway, you all have fun this weekend!

I've been off work since a week ago. I got my usual weird-ass ailment that I caught in 1983 on an airplane to London. The bottomline is that if I don't get enough sleep, I get a sore throat that likes to go into sinusitis or my lungs. I got sick my first day off and while I'm feeling better, my voice goes in and out and I'm still trying to avoid a lung infection by coughing a lot. I just called in for tomorrow night, too.

Rather than spamming, I'll just add a few tv thoughts here, too. Supernatural and Criminal Minds. I was going to discuss The Mentalist but that got too long. Spam coming up.Read more... )

The car they rented us was a Dodge Avenger, black with a rear spoiler. It was cool. *g* But it was a automatic and underpowered. :::shrug::: But then again, it had satellite radio. I found the vinyl rock channel and our sound track for the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen was The Doors, The Beatles, CSN&Y, Tull, The Band.... The down side was that I had Ballroom Blitz in my head for two days and just when I'd almost forgotten it, they played it again.

CHORUS
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah-Yeah-Yeah
And the man in the back said everyone attack
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said boy I want to warn you
It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz

While up there, we wanted to try Alberta Beef. And for you carnivores, it was excellent. Usually when I eat a large piece of beef, I get tummy upset. Not so with this. My guess is that I've been reacting to all the crap we put in the cattle here in the States.

This town has dinosaur statues all over the place. We are staying at the Best Western Jurassic Inn. *g* They've taken this theme and worked it 100%.

We went to the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology and they had fantastic exhibits.

Today was an easy day. Mom was looking tired and luckily, all we were going to do today was check out Lake Louise and Lake Moraine. After breakfast, we went back to our room and...took a nap. *g* Mom looked better for it. Then we went to Lake Moraine and sat by the shore and just absorbed the beauty for at least an hour. I took many photos but I will only bore you with only one.

We stayed at the Lake Louise Inn where I had to pay for the net connection, which I did; I got on for about 30 minutes and then the computer crashed and then the laptop would not reconnect. Hmph! Now I need to catch up!

Just a quick note to catch you up. I leave in the morning for Vancouver and the SG con. I spent the day today moving crap and helping get the FiOS installed. It went pretty well, except they need to come back and install a second cable card in the HD Tivo so we can tape two things at once. Phone is good. Net is okay...the faster speed is very noticeable when dl photos and movies. I'm so tired!

The good news is that Scooter is holding steady but is noticeably debilitated though. He just wants to be held all day. Even when he's hungry, he may not feel like getting up to go get food so we take him to his meals and then take him to his litter box. Think of a human in a nursing home capable of tottering about and who does better if you bring their meals to them. I suppose he is on borrowed time.

I'm taking the laptop to the con, so I should be able to check in each day.

I'm just gonna watch the Colbert Report and then go to bed. I think I'm packed....

I'm off later today to lovely Arizona for a work related conference. I'll be back briefly on Friday and then off to the local Farscape con.

I'll catch up later, I hope!

Boy, I'm so behind on everything. I was trying to read all the HP stuff on my flist, which I kinda did but it took time.

So, we got back from the trip and had a great time. Want to go again. :) Will post a few pretty pictures when I get back.

I actually got someone to cover for me tonight at work in the last 10 minutes this morning. They still counted it as a sick day which sucks though. Oh well.

I'm off to fight the traffic and go to comic con! Whee! And hey, Comic con sold out. Since I didn't think they'd ever say no to anyone, I'm kinda frightened to see just how many people this will be.

Catch up with you all when I get back. Hopefully. Hopefully on the catching up, not that I'll get back. *g* Now I'll have to drive extra carefully.

We're back from Las Vegas. We had a wonderful time and Bunny took great care of us. On Saturday, we went to the Orleans Casino to see CF. I'm pleased to say during the hour he was on stage, he pretty much kept to the standard of jokes he uses on the Late Show. We laughed and laughed and had a great time.

Well, it's cooling down a bit and I need to go do some yard work. :::sigh::: But it's all a part of my master plan of being on a diet and getting more exercise before MediaWestCon.
